Shifted Eruption

LP/Artwork limited edition 1-10

In 2015, the recording „Shifted Eruption“ was created in Reykjavik (Iceland) after a three-month artist residency of drummer and sound artist Simon Berz. The impressive experiences of Iceland’s nature manifest themselves in this recording. Three weeks full of storms, ice, volcanoes, lunar eclipse and aurora borealis as well as an exuberant sea, changed the perception of nature and the inner life of the sound artist.
Out of this experience came the LP „Shifted Eruption“ with renowned Icelandic bassist Skúli Sverrisson at the Mengi jazz club in Reykjavik. The result was a dark, cinematic recording driven by deep bass. The eruptions of the volcanic island seem to move from ear to ear. Billowing drones echo the power of geological forces. Simon Berz plays long rolls on electrically amplified volcanic stones. The bass plays harmonized pads with sub-basses that make the rumbling power of the lava physically comprehensible and at the same time suggest a deep sense of security and inclusion of human existence in nature.
